Air Miles anyone? Posted by Flirty

Well Hong Kong is interesting (not Hona Kilty Primal :-). Most of the people I know are working in finance, so the mood has been strange due to the turmoil in the markets. Complete panic over Bear Stearns and then euphoria when the Fed cut rates.

The single expats are determined to party their last bonus payment away, while those with families are in a panic as their gravy train runs out of Bisto granules - who the hell will mind the kids and do the cleaning for $1 an hour when they move back to Boston? The Chinese are also worried, not about Tibet, which you would hardly know exists, but the collapse of the expat cottage industry. Each expat subsidises a range of staff along with a host of clubs, bars and restaurants, if they start getting sent home it will have ramifications for everyone.

I was the only person in HK who actually wants to get out, but I am limited by Air Miles. Currently I’m trying to get a flight to Singapore and then Air Mile it directly to Dublin. If anyone would like to donate miles, please give generously to the “Get Flirty Back ” campaign.

Otherwise I will have to take the transiberian route, which takes around 3 months and will play hell with my hair. On the plus side there are meant to be more men than women in northern Russia and they’re probably pretty well built from all that working in the Salt mines!

Flirty goes East Posted by Flirty

Well I have outdone myself. Managed to blag my way onto a private jet to the rugby tomorrow PLUS corporate tickets. You really don’t want to know what I had to promise!

However as the plane is full on the way back tomorrow evening I have to find my own way home. Flights back west were mad expensive so instead I have decided to keep going East to HK.

Unsurprisingly blogging will be a bit random for the next week or at least until I figure out a way to get back home again.

Have a super Paddy’s and Easter break.

PS - thanks for all the lovely comments on the last post, I really appreciate all the advice and kind words.

Flirty in Motion Posted by Flirty

Flirty is coming to a TV screen near you - maybe! Before you get too carried away, like I did, it is a very long road. The process is similar to getting a job. You have the initial meeting and everybody loves everybody else - a bit like a recruitment consultancy. After much nagging they eventually put you forward for a pitch and you have to write something decent. Unfortunately 100’s of other people are doing the same.

If you make it past this stage you then progress to a pilot. Finally, if you are very lucky someone agrees to cough up more money and take you on. All going well the rest of the country won’t ridicule you as the worst programme ever produced on Irish TV.

I am at the very early stages of this process. Last week I was assigned a script writer as apparently things like plot, character and good grammar are very important. He is a talented young lad and like a “Ready, Steady, Cook chef, he can produce fabulous creations from the most basic of ingredients e.g. my blog.

However I am still required to give some input, so a bit of market research.

What parts of my blog do you like reading? ( subjects, people, situations etc )

What would you like to see / hear more about?

What posts are of limited interest?

Your constructive honesty is much appreciated and feel free to email if the comment box is too small – irishflirtysomething at hotmail.com

Granted it may all come to nothing, (like the book plan) but for the moment I get to say cool things like, “I’m meeting my agent for lunch. How bad is that!

Just flicking through my copy of “U” magazine, when the beaut.ie girls caught my eye. Well they are very eye catching ladies! Naturally had a read as it was all about the blog awards. To my shock one of my posts was featured - “Handyman” along with a picture of my site. Am beyond chuffed, it is so cool to see Flirty in print!

A big thanks to all at U, appreciate the support and in case you’re reading, I’d be happy to provide copy any time!
